In its more than 25 years of history, ACPHIS has built a strong community of Professors and Heads in Information Systems. Life Membership is an award in recognition and honour of individuals' outstanding contributions and extraordinary service to the Association over many years. The life membership award was first introduced in 2023, with the first life memberships announced at ACIS 2024 in Canberra.

Professor Frada Burnstein has made an outstanding contribution and provided extraordinary service to ACPHIS over many years. Joining ACPHIS soon after its creation Frada continued to serve and was elected Vice-President in 2011, a role she held for seven consecutive years. During this tenure she served as Chair and sessions organiser of the ACPHIS annual workshops. Frada was the second Convenor for the ACPHIS Doctoral Medal where she developed selection criteria for the evaluation of the doctoral theses to align with international standards and served five times as award evaluator. The medal selection criteria are still in use today. Frada was Chair of the first review of the recommended IS conference list, facilitated its recent update, and led the review of Australian undergraduate IS degrees. As part of her ACPHIS activities Frada provided formal and informal mentorship to ensure ACPHIS continuity and ongoing impact on the Australasian IS community.

Nominations for the Life Member Award can be submitted by any ACPHIS member who is not currently serving on the ACPHIS Committee. Nominations must be received by November 1st each year through an online form.
